Alphabet Soup

Our last shoot of the semester was taking pictures of subjects that take the shape of letters. We then used the letters to make our names or something about us. This shoot was harder than it looked but it also makes you get up and look around your world for letters and specific shapes. Some of the letters were easy and I could find multiples of them but others were almost impossible to find. I always see these types of compositions in peoples houses and never thought of making one myself.

ISO shoot reflection

For the ISO shoot i took pictures of anything in the light. Some of my pictures are of my siblings and some are just of random objects. If the pictures are of my siblings I set up the scene by having them play outside or pose, otherwise the scene was already set. I used depth of field and other rules of composition such as don't center. My strength was the indoor lighting pictures and i struggled on some of the night time pictures just because it was hard to get the ISO level just right.

Shutter Speed and Motion Reflection

For this assignment I took pictures of my siblings mostly. We went on a hike and I took my camera with me. In the picture above we were just outside our house at night. For other pictures i took pictures at my brothers basketball game. In the hiking pictures the scene was already set and i just took pictures of my siblings doing activities. In the dark pictures I gave my sisters my phones and turned on the flash lights while they made shapes. I didn't center through out all my pictures and I avoided distractions. I also used depth of field. I choose my siblings because they are always being active and willing to help me with photography assignments. My strengths where the blur and freeze pictures. My weakness was definitely panning. I would have made time to put in more subject matter.

depth of field reflection

The depth of field assignment was to take pictures o subjects using the different depth of field adjustments we learned in class. I took pictures around my neighborhood where there was a lot of stuff going on in the foreground and background of pictures. I used the rules of compositions we've learned in past classes and photo shoots. In the picture above I used the do not center rule and emphasis. The dandelion fuzz popped of the green grass and its a little to the side in the picture. The blurred background colors are similar to the dandelion so that creates unity in the picture. I didn't really incorporate my voice into this assignment but I saw the world differently by getting up close to things and seeing everything different. My strengths on this assignment were understanding the different depths of field and my weaknesses were getting out more and getting a variety of pictures. If i could change something about this assignment it would be to get more and better subject mater than my neighborhood.

THE FUTUUUUUUURE

Where do you see photography in the next 10, 50, 100 years?
How do you think photographers of the future will continue to push the envelop and stay fresh 10, 50, 100 years in the future?

In the future I want to be able to have glasses or contacts that can take photos. A lot of the time people see something that they think would be a good photo but when they get their camera out to take the photo they can't get it focused or it doesn't look as good so with the glasses and contacts they could just take the picture as they saw it.
I think future photographers will continue to develop new ideas and camera techniques in the future because they know what they need and if they are passionate enough about it then they will figure out a way to keep the developments going.

Color Reflection

My color composition assignment color was green. I took pictures of nature but i didnt want all my pictures to be of grass or trees so i went down town Noblesville and went in different stores to find green objects. I used the rules of composition in this assignment by getting better angles on my pictures and not centering. I also got close up views of objects. I used close and far, dont center and get close in my pictures. i didnt really have one subject matter i just found green things and took pictures of them. I also didnt show my own voice too much during the assignment. I guess this assignment made me view my world dofferently by me realizing how much we don't appreciate all the pretty colors around us. My weaknesses in this assignment were probably just finding one subject matter and sticking to jyst that because besides the color my pictures were pretty random. My strength was finding different shades of the color green and using variety for the color.

philosophy

"What is the purpose of a camera?"
The purpose of a camera is to capture a memory or something important in time. We take pictures so we can always have those important memories with us and never forget them. Photos can also bee seen as art. A photographer can position objects or people however they want to create a voice or message in their work. A photographer can also use cameras to show his/her audience what they want them to see.

Genius??

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6S2HgibGbb0

I think that what he did was genius. He got away with it forever and no one questioned him. I think it was wrong but I definitely consider him a genius. I think that if someone is gifted with a genius talent they should use it to better the world around them. They should try to make themselves and other people benjfit from it. If i had a genius talent i would want it to be athletics. I would want to be able to play any sport and get full ride scholarships to any schools.

Favorite image

My favorite picture is currently my own picture that i took at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. In the museum the stair cases are color coded and this image is of the yellow stair case. I love this picture because of the shadows. The sun was in a spot that made the top of the museum cast a cool shadow onto the window of the staircase. I love the way the yellow pops out from the shadows, being the point of interest. I think this image says a lot about my voice because a lot of the pictures i take have a little pop of color in them.

Photography Expections

I'm taking Photography to prepare for AP Photography. I also want to learn how to properly use photoshop. I'm also hoping to learn more about cameras and all the things they can do.

Artist Statement

Artist Statement

To me art is any idea being made into something real. I want to make art that people will look at and appreciate. I want people to look at my art and have new perspective on things. To me art is a way to express yourself and make a difference. This semester we learned about an artist named Banksy. Banksy flies way under the radar and pretty much doesn't give a crap about the law. I admire Banksy and his work because his work isn't just vandalism, he's sending a message that really opens everyones eyes when they see it. Banksy inspires me to try and make a difference with my work. Now this year i didn't get much of a chance to really send many messages with my work but it's only freshman year. My goal is to go into photography and hopefully taking pictures that capture the positives in the world and that send a message to the people who view my photos.
When I'm making something in art, I start with ideas that represent me as a person or ideas that I can relate to. This year our teachers told us what materials to use or gave us a theme or topic our art had to be about. For example, our paper projects in Mrs. Hahn's class had to be about social justice. For this project I decided to do a message on bullying. In this project I emphasized the words "word hurt" by making them red against the black and white paper and background. by doing this i was hoping the words would pop to the viewer and they would think more about how their words can impact a persons life. When I'm drawing or painting in my free time I create my art based on what has been on my mind lately. Sometimes its drawing a sibling or influential person in my life or simply just sketches i come up with. I take a lot of pictures and this summer i plan on doing a photo projection self image.
I went into 2D art this year thinking i wasn't very good or creative but that class actually showed me what i could do through art and I love it now. 3D art was definately not one of my strengths but I really enjoyed being able to put more of my voice into my art work. My favorite pieces i did this year was my slab portrait in 3D art and the self portrait in 2D art. For both of those projects we were free to represent ourselves anyway we liked and I loved that. I think its very important that we do art work that reminds us of ourselves. I don't necessarily think my art skills have gotten a lot better but I think that I now think more creatively and I have more ideas in my head than I did before 2D and 3D art. I think that the most challenging part about being an artist is sometimes not being able to put your ideas into real work. I feel like my projects this year were pretty successful for the most part. I had good projects and very bad projects but i think those projects helped me discover what kind of art I'm really into and help me grow as an artist. My strengths this year have been my 2D art skills and my ideas and creativity in 3D art.As i said before Banksy actually has influenced me a lot to  make a difference and send a message to my viewers, maybe just not in the same illegal way he does. Jamaica

This year I went to Jamaica with my family. My dad grew up there and his Jamaica is a lot different than the beautiful beaches and resorts that most people think of. I was very fortunate to expierience the pretty beaches and resort Jamaica and the poverty and authentic parts of Jamaica.
